Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, which is also how you sign in (we send one-time codes; there are no passwords).
- Usage data: every research run is logged with its query, parameters, status, timing and the IP address it came from, for one year. This feeds your history page, the daily search count, and the anonymous site-wide "hot research" ranking (which shows queries, never who ran them).
- Billing data: handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer and subscription ids and your plan, never your card number.
- Saved searches: the queries you choose to save, with the headline numbers at the time.
- Preview searches: searches made on the homepage without an account are counted per IP address for the month.
- Site analytics: we measure how the site is used with our own code, not a third-party analytics service. For each visit we record the pages opened, how long each was on screen, how far down it was scrolled, which sections and buttons were used, how far the homepage tour or a video played, and the referrer, campaign tags or ad click id on the link that brought the visit, together with the IP address and approximate location (country, region, city) it arrived from. The visit is keyed to a random id in a first-party cookie. Nothing typed into a form or a search box is recorded this way. If you create an account, the earlier visits from the same browser are linked to it. These records are kept for two years.
What we don't do
We don't sell personal data or share your queries with anyone. Transactional email (login codes) is sent through Resend.
Advertising
We advertise on Google. Google's conversion tag runs on the site so Google can tell when a click on one of our ads led to an account or a subscription. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland get the tag with consent denied, so it sets no cookies for them and Google models those conversions without identifying anyone. The tag never sees your searches.
Cookies
One session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. sp_vid (180 days) holds the random visitor id described under site analytics, and sp_visit in session storage groups one tab's activity into a visit. Google's advertising cookies are set only outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. To turn our own analytics off in a browser, run localStorage.setItem('sp-no-track', '1') in its console, or email us and we will delete the records tied to your visitor id.
Your rights
Email [email protected] to export or delete your account data. We delete the account and its logs within 30 days. Questions about this policy go to [email protected].
Listing data
The sale records we analyse are collected from publicly available eBay listing pages and include seller usernames as eBay publishes them. If you are a seller and want a listing removed from our results, email us with the item id.
